The map is divided in tiles. The tiles aid movement and recruitment. At the end of a player's round a maximum of one stack of a single nation or two stacks of two different nations can be in any single tile.

Each tile is of a given terrain type defining what markers can be recruited there and the terrain type serves also as a guideline for the terrain setup in battles. Each tile is crossed by a road, showing where a stack can move and some tiles hold also a camp fire symbol to show that a stack can voluntarily stop.

Designer notes.
 In the original design each tile is 42x42mm, so that you can place two stacks in one tile, if you use stands as army-markers.
